Mazda CX-7 Review

There are plenty of SUV-like crossovers on the market. Some are of the premium variety while others fall into the so-called non-premium, compact SUV category

Did you know that half of the new cars sold in the USA are ‘Sports Utility Vehicles' (what Ken Livingstone calls “4x4s”, and brands the owners “idiots”). In Europe, sales have doubled from 280,000 in 2001 to 560,000 in 2006. There will soon be no less...

Mazda CX-7 - Road Test First Drive

Another new small SUV, and this time a sporty one - meet Mazda's CX-7.

That depends on your outlook - and on who pays your fuel bills. If you're a rationalist, you'll have difficulty getting past the fact that the CX-7 will cost a sight more to run than a diesel Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV, and for all its good looks and...

If you think Mazda's "zoom-zoom" advertising campaign is all hype, then you should drive the CX-7. It handles quite well for a high-riding soft-roader and it gets up and going courtesy of its 2.3-litre turbocharged engine.

Great handling for a soft-roader, good looks, lots of equipment, keen pricing.

Gets thirsty when pressed, limited rear storage.

Its seven-seat big brother, the CX-9, is coming next year

2007 Mazda CX-7

The 2007 Mazda CX-7 is the catalyst for a union of two facets of my life that seem to have been separated since birth (well, the birth of my children, anyhow): The independent, I-am-woman-hear-me-roar self along with the...

The CX-7 is a new five-passenger, mid-size crossover vehicle defined by its steeply raked (66-degree incline) front glass, curvaceous exterior and sport-tuned drivetrain and suspension. Power comes from a standard 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder...
