Nikon D5

Nikon's new flagship DSLR is a phenomenal performer as long as you don't want to shoot 4K video clips longer than three minutes

High specification autofocus system ; Huge sensitivity range ; Durable build

4K recording limited to 3 minutes ; Vertical grip control arrangement doesn't match the horizontal grip's ; The information screens should be more useful

The Nikon D5 will keep pros happy with its great burst-shooting and low-light performance, but a couple of niggling build issues mean it isn't as convincing an upgrade over the D4S as it could have been.

Nikon D5 review: Olympic effort from pro DSLR - Pocket-lint

In an Olympic year the D5 puts in an Olympic performance. It's going for gold and it's deservedly worthy of such an accolade. Although it's such a tight

New autofocus system is insanely good, super-fast 12fps burst with decent buffer innings, detail at high ISO settings is incredible, epic battery life

The “Hi” ISO settings are roughly pointless, some odd auto white balance decisions in mixed lighting, continuous shooting undercut by Canon 1DX II

Make no bones about it: the Nikon D5 is an astounding pro-spec camera. It's also inevitably going to be compared to the Canon EOS 1D X II. Of the pair we'd say the Canon is the speedier and, arguably, more adept at video work; the Nikon, on the other...

Nikon D5

The top-of-the-line Nikon D5 SLR doesn't disappoint thanks to best-in-class autofocus, 4K video recording, and a full-frame image sensor.

Fast 153-point autofocus system. 12fps continuous shooting. Strong high ISO image quality. 20MP full-frame image sensor. Tough, durable build. 3.2-inch touch LCD. Clean HDMI output. 4K video capture. Available with dual XQD or CF slots.

4K video is cropped. Underwhelming autofocus for video. No Wi-Fi or GPS. Omits in-body flash.

Conclusions If you want a top-end SLR that can keep focus locked on moving subjects, shoot at an incredible burst rate, and deliver the image quality you expect from a full-frame system, you have two excellent options among current models. The Canon...

Nikon D5 review

Spent more time on the sports field than in the studio? The D5 is the pro-level camera to go for

No light? No problem ; Super-fast shooting ; Built like a tank

What the hey, 4K? ; Where's the Wi-Fi

Nikon D5 Review

The Nikon D5 is the company's flagship action-oriented DSLR, sporting a 20.8MP full-frame sensor, 153-point autofocus system and a full-size, double-grip chassis that is both tough as nails and exceedingly comfortable to use. Though the core build of...

Nikon D5 Review

Nikon D5 Review

The Nikon D5 captures excellent images, but its 20.8-megapixel sensor trades low ISO dynamic range for excellent high ISO performance. What it doesn't compromise on is autofocus and speed with 153 AF points and 12fps continuous shooting for up to 200...

Excellent image quality; Excellent high ISO performance; Fast 153-point autofocus system; Fast continuous shooting speeds; 4K video recording; Pro-quality camera body; Outstanding battery life

Large and heavy body might not be right for all; Loud shutter; Underutilized touchscreen; Low ISO dynamic range not as good as predecessor; Extended high ISOs not very useful; Sluggish Live View AF
