Test: Apple Mac Pro

Med et unikt design og en veldig kraft skal det en hel del til for at konkurrentene skal kunne bryne seg på denne arbeidsstasjonen

Strålende design ; Mange muligheter for eksterne ekspansjonskort ; To grafikkort ; Fantastisk ytelse ; Utbyttbar SSD

Nice case...

The mac pro seriously breaks my heart as a system builder. I have nothing against OSX, it's a great OS, but I strongly urge potential buyers to look at their options here (you are, apparently, already at the Egg so look around). And If you love the...

OSX, good looking case. But seriously, Apple, how about a refresh?! For this price you could be giving your loyal customers a whole lot more computer ; honestly, I'm pretty sure buying a pre-assembled machine on the Egg is sacrilege

The last defense for buying this machine, besides OSX of course, was the 8 core machismo. Unfortunately for the Mac Pro, You can now you can get a Core i7 920, Sunbeam core contact freezer or TRUE, X58 T-power, and 6GB of DDR3 1600 all for about $800...

This is a Fantastic Deal for the Price

For the money, this is possible the best machine that you can buy or build depending on what you do.

All the people complaining that this is too expensive are either anti-Mac trolls, or just woefully uninformed. No, you can't build this machine for a third the price, and to the guy who suggested 2 C2Q's in a computer, good luck with that. It's...

There are none.

keeps crashing

For the price might as well build a power pc. If yah really want to be different then build a PC and use linux, why pay steve jobs for an OS that's just a version of linux

Price...err nevermind

keeps crashing and shutting down, after a week it finally died on me. I got my money back.

Pricey for what you get

The only reason I bought this is because I needed to get a mac and couldn't stand the weak power of the iMacs, so I had to settle for this. It does what it needs to after I poured in another 500 dollars.. Oh gee thats where it went..

Two quad processors, sleek case design, and leopard is about all this desktop has going for it.

Weak graphics card, not kidding, you could buy this card for 50 bucks on newegg, a 50 dollar graphics card in an almost 3grand desktop.. Then they only load it up with 2 gigs of ram at 800mhz, I mean you gotta be kidding, whats the points of having all...

Really not that expensive...

I bought this refurb from Apple for $2399, and after looking around at just the cost of the 2.8 Quad XEON (Server Class you ignorant Desktop chip naysayers!) this computer is actually a very good deal. Upgrading the memory isn't very expensive, I...

8 Cores, 8 Memory slots, 4 incredible HDD bays, QUIET, OS X, Fast as hell. I know it's no authoritative speed benchmark, but on ripping a 2 hour movie in Handbrake I went from 8-10 hours on my 1Ghz PB G4, to 2 hours on my 2Ghz C2D Macbook to FIFTEEN...

Sadly, even though it's the most gorgeous inside design of ANY computer, it doesn't have the cheap plexiglass window.

The Beast Is Released

This computer has virtually consumed all my previous computers. I am running Sheepshaver for de-archiving of ten years of MacOS 7-9 work. I am running Vmware Fusion for 8 years of Windows work. Both of these open while I edit in Final Cut Pro and...

Outstanding speed, build quality, operating system. It's whisper-quiet and power saving always works correctly, unlike Windows.

Not many RAID options, only four hard drive bays (but I love the drive trays). Mighty Mouse is cute but too small for my hands and the virtual "second button" just doesn't cut it -- sometimes it clicks right, sometimes it doesn't.

Great for me, but it's not for everyone.

For me (a film student and, at times, a visual effects/motion graphics artist) there was no other choice. Premiere Pro is garbage and that only leaves Avid as a possible choice for editing on a Windows machine (don't try an tell me Vegas or Edius are...

2x2.8GHz Xeon Quad Cores, etc...

Only 2gb of memory, the HD 2600 is kind of meh, and that's about it for me. Drop a couple bucks here or elsewhere online and you'll be at 8-10GB total and boom, no more to complain about. If you want, throw down an extra $150 to apple and get the...

Apple Mac Pro MA970LL/A Intel Xeon 2.8GHz Quad Core 2GB 320GB ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard

For those who do not understand server based systems, the ram inside is ECC/Fully Buffered meaning that you have an extra layer of security against memory read errors vs. standard desktop ram. Also the operating tolerances of server boards/CPU's/Ram is...

Worked with these at my last high school. Great performers expect for cons... Also if you do any type of multimedia work get this and run Final Cut Studios. Apple really has surprised me with OSX, I used to Hate Apples but now they have a place next to...

Expensive and Worked great, just had terrible and I mean terrible issue running these as workstations with Windows Office. Mind you they work great individually but they don't like to play nice with Microsoft Products while running off a server. Caused...

Great system. It's Apple!

This thing runs FAST. And I mean *FAST*. OS X Leopard blows Windows out of the water. I actually upgraded this thing with an extra 2GB RAM, which wasn't hard at all. Comes with four hard drive bays- no wires- just snap the hard drive into the tray and...

Great computer. Great OS. Great company.

You have to buy video cards from Apple... but that's not a con is it?
