"Sleeper" head unit

A friend of mine has the CDA-9887. I would easily say the Clarion DXZ785USB compares to Alpine any day of the week. I prefer the look of the Clarion better. As well, I like the motorized screen to load CDs. Perhaps the non-motorized screen might be...

Most people talked Clarion down and I'm glad I didn't listen to them.

The screen seems to be a passive matrix type of display. I'm not a total fan of the screen but it is certainly not a deal killer by any means. I have not experienced the washout some have reported due to sunlight but I could see it happening.

Awesome head unit

Got it on sale can't beat the price for all the options. I did find that hooking my iPhone 3G through standard apple cable gives you a warning about interference and not being a compatible accessory but I guess I have it far enough away that I don't...

Lots of preamps. USB connection. Built in low and high crossovers. Has options for 2-way and 3-way speaker setups, but it also serves as a great basic deck.

Manual can be a little cryptic, I still have to refer back to it because of all the options. As with others the screen is lacking when you have any light on it but in low light I find it works great if you tweak some of the screen settings. It also has...

Best in its class

Good set~affordable price~good value

Excellent sound quality - Crystal clear sound reproduction from whichever media you choose CD or USB or radio, the S-restorer option does the job.

I have not found any major one yet

Great deck for the money if you can get over the looks and feel. The audio features and expandability are extremely good value for money at this price. I recommend buying if function over form is your motto rather than the other way around.

Features are VERY promising at this price point. Ability to add handsfree BT (which I did), USB, IPOD, and plenty of other audio features makes it an attractive deck. Ability to change colors to any of 728 different ones is extremely helpful and one of...

One of the UGLIEST head units I have ever seen. The slide track controls are innovative, yes, but feel extremely cheap and I hope that once I have the deck setup the way I want that I will never have to use them. Meaning I hope to use the remove most...

Great system for the price

All around its a great stereo! Easy install and great sound!

It has a great crisp sound! Lots of options for sound control! USB and AUX input. The search slider face option is kool to. For the money you can't beat it!

It is a little hard to see the display during the day. As far as the USB and AUX input bein in the back. Not the best idea but the USB has about 2ft wire to it so its not to bad. The AUX input you can get a extender for it for a couple bucks.

Works great

Buttons are easy to use and comes with 2 in-depth manuals. All wires are labeled in the foldout manual and functions are explained in the bigger manual. Fit it in a generic car and wire kit and it worked right off the bat.

Kind of hard to see in the sunlight but a lot of players I had in the past suffered from that.

Works like a charm

the manual does not tell you how to set the time... took me about an hour to get the unit into my dash... the usb port in on the back of the unit, this would be a draw back if they didn't give you a cord (usb cord is four-six feet long) follow the...

lots of stuff to use, i love the fact that you can use a usb flash drive for music... this cd player has an optional bluetooth adapter that you can buy so that you can use it to send and recieve calls... color screens and all that goodness , many...

ok- i hate to be critical of a radio i just bought, the issue is that the manual is not very clear, the clock setting has to done in a certain way, it took me a little while to figure it out... all the options (volume and search...) are on sliders,...

Nice Design

You might want to mount a light behind your dash, it makes it easier to find the USB port.

This device has the USB connection port in the back of the unit which makes it very handy for those who sit upside down, providing there aren't any heater controls or wiring in the way.

Uses those old fashioned CD things, why not take up more space and add an 8-Track port, or add a crank off the front, better yet the rear, that's a great place for everyday access.

Clarion In-Dash CD Receiver/CeNET Control Model DXZ785USB

As mentioned in a different review, almost too many features.

Loaded with features, sounds great, looks great, works with the 8GB flash drive on my keyring and also works well with my iPod and my Sansa player and I can even use the remote with them.

Display hard to read in a Convertible on a sunny day.

Eggcellent Radio

I bought this bad boy for $117 w/ shipping from Newegg for the Shell Shocker. It was superb price, and the stereo is very nice. The controls are a little odd, and perhaps there are too many options. FLASH DRIVE DOES WORK! I am using a Kingston 8GB and...

Features, tons

Hard to read the display during the day, glare and low light.
