Amazon Fire HD 8

The Amazon Fire HD 8 is one of the cheapest tablets you can buy from a recognisable brand. It costs around £79.99, and unlike similarly priced Android slates it's not completely terrible.

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) review

Amazon's Fire HD 8 is the absolute best tablet you can buy under $100.

Affordable ; Loud speakers ; Decent performance ; Good battery life

Screen quality isn’t great ; Amazon Appstore still lacks a lot of apps ; Alexa needs trigger word support

Amazon’s Fire HD 8 is a fantastic tablet for the money, but just know what you’re buying it for: Amazon media and a few apps.

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017)

Amazon's latest Fire HD 8 tablet is an excellent value for media consumption, as long as you can live without access to Google Play.

Good value. Loud speakers. Dual-band Wi-Fi. Very easy to use.

Highly focused on Amazon services. No native Google apps or services. Poor cameras.

The Amazon Fire HD 8 is best cheap tablet experience you can find under $100. It's good as a color ebook reader, an audiobook player, and especially as a kids' tablet. Its main downside is the lack of the Google Play store; hacking your way around that...

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) review

A limited upgrade to a great tablet

Suitably large screen ; Good storage options

No stand out improvements ; Poor cameras

Amazon's Fire HD 8 (2017) offers a small improvement on previous iterations of the company's affordable tablet line. It's a great deal for first-time buyers, though there's no strong incentive to update your current tablet if you've already got one in...

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) Tablet Review

A real steal. Amazon has updated its 8-inch tablet Fire HD 8. Depending on the configuration, it will cost you between $80 and $125 - it does not really get much cheaper than that. Our review is going to clarify whether or not the tablet is really...

decent quality and feel ; microSD cards up to 256 GB ; bright display ; dual-band Wi-Fi ; remains cool ; no throttling ; stereo sound with Dolby Atmos ; long battery life ; cheap

tied to Amazon ; outdated OS based on Android 5.1.1 ; no Google Play ; poor camera ; no NFC, no GSM/UMTS/LTE ; no GPS

Like its predecessors and 7 and 10-inch siblings, the Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) offers an incredible price-performance ratio. Those of you, who already own the predecessor, can skip this latest version. Apart from some minor enhancements (larger microSD...

Amazon Fire HD 8 2017 review

Amazon is trying to find the perfect mix of quality and price to capture the low-end tablet market. The updated £80 Fire HD 8 sees the company break new ground, but you'll need to make another decision before you buy

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) review

Amazon calls the 2017 edition of its Fire HD 8 tablet the "all-new Fire HD 8," but there really isn't anything new about it except a handful of new colors -- oh, and its slightly lower price tag. Already a good deal when it debuted at $90 or £90 in...

The latest Fire HD 8 delivers faster performance, a bigger battery and more base storage than the previous version for almost half the price. Its 8-inch screen is bright, the speakers are loud and it offers expandable microSD storage and ample parental...

Display isn't as sharp as that of the iPad Mini; to truly take advantage of what the tablet has to offer, you need an Amazon Prime membership; slow charging (takes 6 hours to fully cap battery).

Despite some small drawbacks, you just won't find a tablet with these features and performance at this price.

Amazon Fire HD8 (2017) Review: A minor update of a great family tablet

Amazon has updated its Fire HD8 tablet for 2017, offering better specs & the Alexa assistant. Here's our full review of the upgraded Fire HD8 tablet.

Affordable ; Fast Prime content access ; Parental controls ; Decent battery life

Budget display ; Basic performance

If you want an affordable tablet for the whole family, the new Fire HD8 2017 is a solid choice - as long as you buy into Amazon’s ecosystem, of course. You get full parental controls and fast access to all of your content, including those awesome Prime...

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2016) review

Amazon's new Fire HD 8 looks a lot like last year's Fire HD 8, but there are a few key differences, the biggest of which is the new lower price tag. Much lower, in fact: $90 or £90. (It's not available in Australia so far, but the US price converts to...

Amazon Fire HD 8 review: The best budget tablet of 2018

Amazon's Fire HD and Kids Edition tablets are top buys in 2018

Fantastic battery life ; Superb build quality ; Inexpensive

Terrible camera

It has its shortcomings, but at this price, you’d be hard-pushed to find a better-value Android tablet for less. It wins the Expert Reviews Recommended award.
