Very expensive disappointment.

Good design. Flash and battery interchangeable with other Canon cameras (G series). Very convenient.

Poor quality of the tape mechanism. Jagged, heavily pixelated image.

Very Competent DV

I purchased the PAL version of this camcorder, the Canon MVi30 in Hong Kong. I bought this camcorder in Aug 2000, so I have been using it for a while.

Optical stabilisation, WYSIWYG display, Low light recording, Progressive scan

No hi-res digital still photos, Cheap CCD

Still the best and still available

Funny how price and make is all it takes for people to qualify their choices but if you film for capturing those treasured moments or simply for the love of the medium this palmcorder will satisfy your needs.

Still the best palmcorder available and the industry knows it.

Outstanding DV Camcorder

A month ago I decided to purchase a DV camcorder for the purpose of recording business presentations and placing them on the web. After many hours of research I decided that the following criteria were essential:

Good low light performance, excellent in good light

Mediocre battery life ; so-so ergonomics for controls

Poor Quality

I have had to return two Optura PI cameras due to playback problems. Both cameras experienced video and audio distortion when playing back dubbed tapes from either a VCR or DC50 Video Capture Card. Also some of the recordings from the same camera...

Good Stabilization. Good LCD Display. Playback Controls on LCD Screen.

Very Poor Quality in playback and dubbing. Mulitple cameras with the same problem. Unreliable!
