Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod

One of the great appeals of Motorola's (or perhaps that should be Lenovo's) Moto Z range is the modularity offered by its Moto Mods. These smartphone attachments cleverly attach to the back of the Moto Z range through magnets, making connecting and...

Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod review: The Hasselblad True Zoom makes your Moto Z feel like a real point-and-shoot

The add-on 10x zoom camera provides much-needed photo-framing flexibility to your phone.

The Moto Mods add-on architecture is an intelligent way to add a camera and the Hasselblad True Zoom is attractive, well designed and adds a convenient 10x zoom.

The camera software can be annoying and it's hard to control framing when zoomed all the way in, especially for moving subjects. The video quality isn't great, either.

If you take a lot of photos and have a Motorola Moto Z phone, the Hasselblad is a great add-on to have, as long as you're looking for a big zoom instead of better-than-phone photo quality.

The Hasselblad True Zoom makes your Moto Z feel like a real point-and-shoot

The attempts to design a practical solution to upgrade a phone camera's options -- whether it's better photo quality or a zoom lens or both -- have been unsuccessfully ongoing since 2013 when Samsung tried to integrate a zoom lens on its Galaxy S4...

Hasselblad True Zoom review: Take even better pictures with your Moto Z smartphone

Our Hasselblad True Zoom review looks at the Moto Mod for Moto Z smartphones, allowing consumers an easy way to "upgrade" the camera on their smartphone.

Offers OIS for photos, EIS for video. 10x optical zoom is fantastic, shoots RAW DNG format, plenty of manual options.

No way to retain settings. Colours seem a bit washed out over the default Moto Z camera. Pulls from phone battery.

Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod Review

Turn your Moto Z smartphone into a Hasselblad compact camera with a 10x optical zoom lens.

The Hasselblad True Zoom doesn't feature a tripod socket, something that would make this much more useful for photographers. This is something that is available on the Sony QX range, and gives your smartphone a tripod socket. The QX range also has a...

Moto Z Hasselblad True Zoom Mod review: No, not for everyone

The Hasselblad True Zoom mod will retail for Rs 19 999 when it launches on October 17. Here's our review.

The Hasselblad True Zoom mod is not for everyone. While it misses out on a few essential features (like aperture control or better aperture to begin with), it does get the zoom bit right. The optical image stabilisation keeps things blur-free even at...

Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mods for Moto Z [Review]

When Motorola showed off their Moto Mods in the middle of the summer one thing that seemed missing was a camera option. We seen it with the LG G5 and also attachments on other devices. Motorola has teamed up with world-renowned camera company...

With a hefty price tag of $300 is it really worth it? Its a hard price to swallow especially if you just spent $400 on the recent Moto Z Play. Like I said on a good bright day outside the photos can come out gorgeous looking but even at those times its...

Hasselblad True Zoom review: A curiosity with almost nothing to recommend it

For $250 you should just buy a vastly superior point-and-shoot camera.

10x optical zoom

As expensive as a decent point-and-shoot, but less capable ; Generally takes worse pictures than the built-in camera

It does what it says it does, but not very well, and there are quite a few serious drawbacks. For the price, a point-and-shoot camera will give you a lot more.

Hasselblad True Zoom MotoMod Review

Finally, the Moto Z's get a Hasselblad True Zoom MotoMod with a powerful camera. Find out how it works and if it will transform mobile photography.

10x zoom lens ; Powerful Xenon flash ; RAW capture ; Relatively large pixels in the CMOS sensor ; Removable for when you want a thinner phone ; Gorgeous photos in the right conditions

– No tripod mount ; – Major vignetting & clipping in the corners at the wide angles ; – Significant lens distortion ; – No extended battery ; – No aperture control ; – Software doesn’t save RAW + JPG or Pro camera UI settings between sessions. ; – Very...
