Sony Cyber-shot RX10 IV

Is this all-in-one bridge camera the ultimate DSLR killer?. Sony Cyber-shot RX10 IV.

Huge zoom range covers almost any photographic opportunity ; Fast, accurate autofocus keeps moving subjects sharp ; Excellent image quality in most lighting conditions

Screen only tilts up or down ; Lacks some expected features, e.g. intervalometer ; Bluetooth under-utilised (only used for geotagging)

Sony has made huge strides in its latest generation of cameras, including the Alpha 6500 APS-C and Alpha 9 full-frame mirrorless models, and the RX100 V compact. But has it successfully transferred this to its long-zoom bridge camera?

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 IV review

Very high-quality stills and movies ; 25x telephoto Zeiss lens ; Eye AF function is outstanding ; Features designed for amateur filmmaking ; 1-inch stacked sensor

Tends to overexpose in auto mode ; Sony’s menus are still hard to navigate

As an all-in-one camera, the Sony RX10 Mark IV is leading the pack. With a focal range of 24-600mm, you’re pretty much covered in most instances — no need to swap lenses. It’s also very fast, thanks to the technologies Sony packed into it. While you...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 IV

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 IV camera delivers an incredible zoom range and uses a stacked sensor design and phase detection focus for 24fps image capture.

25x zoom lens. Large 1-inch sensor. Phase detect autofocus. 24fps Raw capture with tracking. Dust- and splash-resistant design. Touch LCD and EVF. Top info LCD. Wi-Fi. 4K video and 1080p slow-motion.

Very expensive. No in-lens neutral density filter. Hood blocks flash at wide angles. Can't start a video when still buffer is in use.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 IV is the most feature-filled, and most expensive, variation of the camera yet. It keeps the same 24-600mm f/2.4-4 lens as the RX10 III (now priced around $1,400), but adds on-sensor phase detection for quicker focus and a...

Sony brings its blistering burst speed to RX10 IV

It upgrades from a ridiculous 5 frames per second on the RX10 III to a sublimely ridiculous 24fps with continuous focus and exposure.

Sony RX10 IV Review

In the dying days of 2013, Sony launched the RX10, a camera which was lauded for bringing together the heady mix of a powerful, fixed zoom lens, and a much larger-than-average 1-inch type image sensor, as seen previously in its pocket-friendly RX100 II...

There are many things to weigh up in purchasing a camera. Price is a biggie, of course. But there's also compactness, picture quality, versatility, and

All in one versatility, very high picture quality, great zoom range

A bit lumpy, fairly expensive
