Expert Review

The Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 may look unusual but it's one of the most comfortable and ergonomic we've tested. The ability to enable different commands for the buttons and wheel in different programs particularly impressed us.

It's ergonomic, comfortable and easy to use

Not attractive, it's not plug and play

Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 (2008) review: Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 (2008)

Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 (2008)

Comfortable shape; accurate laser tracks responsively; rechargeable; "executive" design.

Notchless scroll dial is hard to press and results in sloppy scrolling; lefties left out of luck.

The Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 isn't cheap, but if you want to go wireless and have an extra $70 lying around, this mouse is certainly an option. If you're going to spend that much, though, we think you'll like Logitech's high-end offering...

Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 review

Microsoft's latest mouse is not as great as it thinks it is

Unique design ; Wireless

Mains powered charger ; Pricey ; Uncomfortable

Considering its past achievements, we were expecting better from Microsoft

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000 review: Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000

USB receiver snaps into base, ambidextrous design, two thumb buttons; four-way scroll wheel.

Fairly big for a laptop mouse; USB receiver doesn't sit flush when stored in base.

A little bit bigger and the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000 could be a regular desktop mouse, which makes it easy to use, but not the best for easy traveling.

Unlike many of the other laptop mice we've seen, this model includes welcome side buttons for your thumb on the left and right sides, which most Web browsers recognise as the universal command for going back a page. You also get a feature almost never...

The mouse is much ignored but you'd be amazed how much of a difference a good one can make, and this offering from Microsoft is the Rolls-Royce of mice.
