This is a consumer grade multi function printer. If your looking for a nice printer/scanner that is networkable, this is a good machine.

Nice printer, fair scanner. WiFi works great, but hard wire network is faster. Can scans to PDF and sends to FTP, or to file. More scan features are available if using the USB. I don't have a land line, so I don't actually use the fax stuff, but looks...

Awesome for a small business

 

If you need a basic office workhorse, this thing will be your friend. Works great, faxes well, and gets the job done. OSX friendly, and works well in our mixed office. Even the tech guys like and use it. MUCH better than competing HP products, though...

Low ink consumption, decent osx support, easy setup, good scanner that doesn't jam: office workhorse on a budget. The wireless printing is VERY useful, and it's been hooked up via mac, windows and linux by the folks in the office - works pretty well

Software that ships with this unit is pretty bad, same as all other brother options - seems that osx support is also a little lacking - we have weird issues with stuff not working occasionally when it was or should be

we liked the performance of the unit so well that we bought a second unit to fullfill our churches needs.

duplex printing on both 8.5x11 and 8.5x14. was able to replace large office copier in our small chuch with this unit. Copies and prints fast for a small unit.

wireless took some time to set up, but does work well.

Great Machine

 

Just fyi, when printing envelopes using the MP tray you will want to open the back panel and change the blue tabs to the #2 setting. Tech support fails to mention this until several frustrating calls later.

Prints quickly, great duplexing, can handle envelopes and thick paper quite well

Poor image quality (works best on text), fair-poor customer service

We haven't set it up on a network yet, but first impressions on this machine have been very positive.

Great quality copies, fast speed make this a very productive & versatile office machine

Scan was somewhat slow but adjustment to scan quality made it operate faster. Cover should allow more room for copying thicker originals like books,etc.

Works awesome. VERY user friendly

Set up did involve a couple calls to tech support. Nothing more difficult that setting up a wireless router.

The MFC-8870DW is a great unit when properly setup, Bother technical support was very helpful.

Get the extra 514MB for speed, wireless is the way right now, great unit.

Wireless can be a problem in setting up particular with IP address.

Complexity exceeds norms for PC setup. It is more complex than setting up your own wireless. I would not recommend it.

Fast attractive printing and copying.

Setup is impossible. I have not been able to get the wireless function to operate.
