It feels solid, well made and reliable. Even the flower-shaped lens hood supplied with the lens is better quality than most you would buy off the shelf.

It's heavy compared to lenses with a lesser focal range, but that's to be expected.

Does what it says on the box

First impressions very favourable, expect it to meet my needs very well, with travel convenience high on my list of requirements. Am impressed by the optical stabilization, which looks as if it will offer considerable advantages at the telephoto end....

Although a weighty and bulky beast this lens still weighs less than most combinations of two shorter zooms, and you no longer have to decide which lens to keep mounted on the camera.
