As usual, being a Nikon lens it is excellent quality.

Technically, it is NOT a wide angle lens. 28mm is not wide, compared with the standard telephoto lens which comes with the camera, which begins at 13mm.

fairly wide, smooth focus, reasonably sharp, bright and fast at f2.8, great color and contrast. Very light

Not "extra tack sharp", a little distortion...get over it

This lens haven't any cons in FF. I havent'seen any flare, and from f4 the D700's 12Mp are completely resolved.

redition in FF, light and well built

definition in DX, alwais less than 17-35

I was hoping that this lens would be the perfect, slightly wide "normal" lens for my D200. I was not thrilled with the image quality - it seemed to focus properly and sharply at very close distances, but was not sharp at normal distances. The problems...

Compact, fairly fast, not terribly expensive.

My sample did not focus properly (exhibited back focus) on my D200.
