CoffeeGeek - Baratza Maestro Grinder - Ed Wilson's Review

This is our second Maestro. The first was marketed under the Solis brand and gave us eight years of completely trouble free service. The unit failed after trying to grind a small rock that somehow wound up in the beans it was trying to grind. I was...

Size ; Cost ; No Static problems ; Good range of grind settings ; Great customer support

Mostly plastic construction ; Coarse grind setting produces fines

CoffeeGeek - Baratza Maestro Grinder - Bijou Schmidt's Review

if you need a grinder for french press or chemex this would be great, although i feel like its too much for that. the baratza maestro looks ok, a little dorky for me, plastic parts make it not as durable as other grinders made of aluminum. this is also...

Great grinder for everything but espresso and turkish. grinds come out pretty even, easily accessible to burrs and hopper replacement. 40 steps gives good control of grinds

does not grind fine enough for espresso, therefore cannot dial in for espresso either. noisy

CoffeeGeek - Baratza Maestro Grinder - Samurai K's Review

In addition to the Maestro, I have a Pavoni Zip and and recently sold my Rocky. The Pavoni is obviously a commercial workhorse and works like a champ for my e61 ECM Giotto. I picked up a used Maestro from Craigslist to hold me over for a week until my...

Simple to use ; Quiet ; Small footprint

Only one usable grind setting for espresso use ; Clogs easy for fine grind ; Lots of static clumping for fine grind

CoffeeGeek - Baratza Maestro Grinder - Brad Chick's Review

A rock from a supplier stopped the grinder. After pulling it out, it refused to work. It would spin with no beans in it, but as soon as a single bean was dropped in, it would just freeze.

Does Turkish/Espresso grind well

Loud ; Poor engineering

CoffeeGeek - Baratza Maestro Grinder - Daniel C's Review

I bought my Maestro a few months back, just as I was beginning to take coffee seriously. I knew that if I was going to get the most out of my cup I would have to upgrade from my abysmal little blade grinder; however, as a college student, my budget was...

Simple to operate ; Attractive and relatively small ; Adequate grinding range and easy to change from one grind type to the next ; Easy to clean ; Inexpensive

Unacceptable for espresso (in my experience) ; Too much plastic, not enough metal ; Static can be a slight issue

Best $100 electric espresso grinder.

Overall, at this price range, it's above my expectation.

Inexpensive ; 40 grind setting ; Capable of grinding for espresso. Reasonable consistency ; Very little or none static ; Good for both French press and espresso

Build quality consistent (or slightly better) with price range. Lots plastic parts

CoffeeGeek - Baratza Maestro Grinder - Jeff H's Review

INITIAL IMPRESSION:

Inexpensive ; 40 grind setting ; Capable of grinding for espresso. Reasonable consistency ; Very little or none static ; Good for both French press and initially for espresso also ; Unit will required re-cal periodically. BE VERY VERY CAREFUL when...

Build quality consistent (or slightly better) with price range. Lots plastic parts. Mounting Burr on plastics parts, having set screw acting on plastic parts, and relying on plastic parts to control the burr clearance, these type of design decisions...

CoffeeGeek - Baratza Maestro Grinder - William Baguhn's Review

After tiring of a Zassenhaus knee mill at work, I decided it was time to upgrade. I wanted something that would do better than the $25 fall-aparts from the discount store, so the Baratza REFURB seemed to fit the bill.

Solid ; Even grind ; Fast

Indicator mark on hopper is hard to see ; A bit noisy ; Power switch placement
