Dell XPS M2010 reviewed

CNET's staff just strapped on their bionic suits and hoisted Dell's 20-pound XPS M2010 into the lab for a full, hands-on review. Calling this desktop/laptop hybrid a "striking feat of engineering" (that's a compliment, we think), the reviewer fawns...

Dell XPS M2010 review

An entertainment laptop with a whopping 20-inch screen

Huge, independently tilting display ; Good 3D graphics performance ; Excellent specification ; High-quality build

Extremely heavy ; Prohibitive price

A unique and high-quality approach to mobile entertainment, but your lap may need reinforcing to support this laptop

Review: Dell XPS M2010 “The Showstopper” Notebook PC

It's no secret that we like our beer cold and our gadgets small. So a desktop/notebook hybrid called “The Showstopper” had us worried. The result...

Polished, modern looking chassis. Surprisingly quiet operation. Touch-sensitive media controls. Huge 240GB of hard drive offers plenty of room. Integrated 8-speaker sound with subwoofer. Display hinge doubles as handle when closed

Way overpriced given its specs. Extremely heavy at 18.3lbs. No next-gen optical options. Very slow keyboard boot-up. Extra audio ports only accessible through included dongle. Optical drive is slow to eject discs. TV tuner isn’t built in. Bulky power...

Dell M2010 review

A unique design that has plenty of power too

Design is a breath of fresh air

Quite expensive for what it is

Challenges the notion of desktop and notebook with something refreshingly new

Dell XPS M2010

This ambitious laptop/desktop product from Dell aims to show off that they, too, can think outside the box.

Beautiful 20.1-inch widescreen. Excellent sound quality. Impressive design and engineering. Versatile RF remote.

18 pounds of hardware. Extremely pricey. External tuner costs extra.

Dell XPS M2010 review: Dell XPS M2010

A striking feat of engineering that's sure to garner attention in a stylish home or on a multimedia-intensive sales call, the Dell XPS M2010 is simply too heavy and expensive to be anything more than a curio for the rest of us.

Sleek, attention-getting design; high-quality, adjustable 20-inch LCD; speakers offer crisp, rich audio; detachable Bluetooth keyboard and Media Center remote will work well from the couch or during a presentation; top-of-the-line components deliver...

Absurdly expensive; TV tuner and some other A/V connections aren't built in; too heavy to be truly portable.

Dell XPS M2010

When you think of innovation, Dell isn't the first company you're likely to think of. After all, it's built its business on being aggressive in established markets rather than exploring new ones. Is there any bad news involved here? Well, you'll find...

That screen, powerful spec

Pricey, large, not portable

Is there any bad news involved here? Well, you’ll find that the asking price for this piece of innovation is £2299 (inc. VAT).

Dell XPS M2010 Review

I currently run it with 1.5GB RAM, but have a 2GB stick on order and due to arrive any day. I also replaced the HD with my own Hitachi Travelstar 7k100 100gb 7200rpm drive.  Everything else remains the same

I have had a few issues with this system, which warranted a few support calls. First of all, the speakers came unbalanced, with the left speakers significantly louder than the right. Some balance tweaking in the sound options fixed it, but it was a bit...
