I called Sony to ask to extend warranty and they quoted me $380/3 years and $300/2 years. Price too high, no way, will rather buy another laptop. I read they you should never pay =>25% for warranty.

best cpu and pays bluray at the lowest price I can find

LCD screen does not give best pictures. Also a note, the LCD on my laptop die (lasted 8 months) and I had to get it replaced with Sony. Side note I rarely us my laptop, only about once a week. Sony Tech took 8 business days (12 total days) to come out...

Great Laptop

 

I almost bought this at best buy for the same price, however when I did some probing it turned out that they were selling the 5400rpm model of this for the same price under the same model#. Buyer beware if you shop with nothing but superficial details.

I have owned and used this laptop heavily for over 2 months now. This performs very well and I liked how it balances usage vs settings. I am on this constantly and bouncing from network to network, which it has no problems adapting to ; I have left...

If you are trying to show someone something on the screen it will be difficult unless they are in front of it

Extreme Disappointment

 

I returned the laptop to NewEgg a couple of days after receiving it in the mail due to some electrical noise that was imposed on the audio bus and projecting through the speakers. The second laptop I received worked for just under a month, when out of...

When the laptop is working, it runs great. Extremely fast boot time, great BluRay playback, excellent processor performance. All of this does not make up for the poor design. This machine should have never been released to production. See cons for details

screen lighting is bad, thou you can adjust it, keep defaulting back when I reboot ; no overclocking features, bios locked down but you don't really need it ; power core is a beast, it seems to be about 4 times the size of a normal one ; hotkeys on...

Currently RMA'd but after 11 days from sending it still waiting for a replacement since UPS is taking their sweet time getting it to California. Hoping the replacement resolves the Morse code issue.

Fast machine ; does not get hot

makes an annoying Morse code sound at random times ; battery lasts below 2 hours ; has the worst bios menu I have seen. No options there- pretty much only a boot order menu ; Screen is not as great as I have hoped. the contrast is not good

I bought this because of getting good hardware, I.E. CPU. The video card, well, is ok... go to NVidia's website and see the stats of the GeForce 310M compared to an older 240M... Kind of sad.. If you want to game, this is OK. But not great.. I am...

Core I7 ; Keyboard is very nice and back lit ; Did a good job with playing DVD's via HDMI port to my 42" LCD TV.. Very impressive with that... Couldn't tell if all the channels of audio were coming through due to TV's limitations

DISPLAY!! Is a little on the dark side. Cannot change it no matter what. This is a detractor. Not sure if I want to keep this laptop just because of the display. not even close to being bright or acceptable.... You better go to a store and compare this...

Riveting experience

 

Extremely satisfied overall

Fantastic build quality, beautiful screen and the Core-i7 is just out of this world. The responsiveness and overall user experience is exactly what I hoped for from a machine with this high of a pedigree. The much touted Windows 7 OS works seamlessly...

Could have had better battery life, I get about 2hrs. 45 mins on factory defaults. Does not support the 5ghz WiFi channel for 802.11n networks

I am satisfied with this laptop. It is a replacement for my desktop. The unexpected noise is why I gave it a 3 rating. Noise is really irritating and I hope SONY will be able to provide a long term solution.

Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.8 GHz ; Blue Ray Player ; Nice Screen

Constant unwanted modem+morse code noise coming from the finger pad area. It is loud and obnoxious
