LG BD690 review

If you haven't ripped your CD collection yet, you either have a runaway case of procrastination or you're just not that into technology. That's what makes LG's CD-ripping Blu-ray player, the BD690, a bit of a strange hybrid. The type of tech-oriented...

The LG BD690 Blu-ray player has the unique capability of ripping music CDs directly to its built-in 250GB hard drive. It also has built-in Wi-Fi and an excellent suite of streaming-media services, including Netflix, Amazon Instant, Hulu Plus, Vudu,...

The BD690 is expensive, costing about $100 more than players without the CD-ripping feature. The CD-ripping feature is of little use to techies who ripped their CDs years ago, and while it's relatively easy to use, it's also unnecessarily slow and...

The LG BD690 has a superb feature set and unique CD-ripping functionality, but it's expensive and a little more complicated to use than it needs to be.

LG BD690

The LG BD690 is a full-featured Blu-ray player with Wi-Fi, 3D support, and a built-in 250GB hard drive, but at $350 it's just too expensive.

Solid, fast performance. Plenty of features including 3D, Wi-Fi, and a 250GB hard drive.

Expensive. Large and heavy.

LG BD690

LG is pushing the boundaries yet again with its 2011 flagship LG BD690. This revolutionary model is the world's first blu-ray player to be on the Wi-Fi Direct certification list. With the BD690, you get to enjoy the best of both worlds. LG has retained...

The LG BD690 has set the bar high with its stellar cast of avant-garde features. It also demonstrates a harmonious bridge between old and new features. Not only did it match the high expectations set by its predecessor; the BD690 has taken it to a...

Great hardware but bad software

I'm a veteran consumer software engineer (20+ years) and am appalled by the recent update to my BD-690 and its impact on my ability to stream Netflix content. Recent updates in the past months seemed to have been making the player less and less stable...

Buggy Player

Returning back for a refund. Hope that LG fixes these issues and prove that it can do what they state, then I might revisit this model.

Looks good ; Claims it can play many formats

Player keeps shutting off unexpectedly ; Hangs while using internet apps ; Apps crash causing player to shutdown ; Does not play AVCHD format from media player/usb devices. It says resolution is too high (for avchd formats recorded from consumer...

LG BD690

In the face of the light/cheap-feel crop of bluray players out there comes the BD690. It is one of the nicest looking players available with nice isolation feet that gives it a heft about it as compared to some cheap looking new players out there. It...

Wow....This player is worth every cent! Good build quality, fast load times, easy WIFI connectivity, 250mb internal hard drive works great

Retail price is a tad too much. No glow/lit buttons on remote and the fact that I can't control my Panasonic Plasma wit it

LG BD690

As I write this review this is only my opinion. The LG BD690 is probably the best out there when compared to the Oppo BD95 unit. It has a zoom which allows you to zoom into both DVD's and Blu-Rays which is good for a blu-ray player. It has lots Apps...

The wireless connection was very easy to setup and unlike most BD Players it has a built in HDD of 250GB

The Disc tray can only be opened by remote which can be a nuisance at times and there's no where to turn off clock on the front panel or even turn it down so it's not so bright
