It records sometimes

Worked good for 6 months. Finally died after 11 mnths with moderate use

Bought it to be used as tv tuner for a NTSC tv set in Europe, not tested yet this feature so the rest of it does't matter at this time

The only con so far is the fact that it doesn't respond quickly enough to some commands

Worked great until it broke down

Now it can no longer record DVD's. So now what is the point of me sending it to Astar? So they can send me another screwed up DVD recorder. Total waste of my time and money! At least it can still play DVD's (for now)

I've not had the nagging problems that others have reported. I recorder VHS Tapes and TV Programs without any hassle. Used both DVD+R and DVD+RW media in unit for recording. I've have not used the USB or Firewire inputs but do not anticipate issues...

Runs a tad warm, slight noise during playback. Neither concerns me for the price I paid

Remote not the most intuitive and can be confusing - but if you shop here and are a bit of a geek it should be easy enough (but you may have difficulty explaining to others in your home how to work it)

not good part so far

only copy with DVD+RW. Stop working after 1 month, a total disappointment. i called customer service of the manufacturer, no one answers ; hope they will give my money ; it make noise. i wish i had bought a more expensive brand

Very nice quality video when used in High Quality of 4 quality modes

Unit can be complicated to setup the 1st time around. Remote is very busy

I've been a Newegg customer for over 5 years and this is my first review. I felt compelled to write it as this recorder sucks! I have a common problem among users where at Power up, it gets stuck in the wake up mode and the display just flashes...

Versatile. Lots of options. Dolby 5.1 sound. Cheap. Fairly easy to burn DVD's w/o reading many instructions

Terrible instructions. Spent about 4 hours trying to solve what turned out to be a simple sound problem. To their credit, Astar tech support pointed me in the right direction quickly (should've called earlier!)

JUNK! No basic audio outputs (2ch)-has outdated 5.1ch on back. Machine gets so hot you worry for equipment around it. Turns on and off at free will & locks up constantly. Gets unplugged and your clock setting is gone, though your timer settings stay....
