Samsung DVD-P230 review: Samsung DVD-P230

Inexpensive progressive-scan deck; full aspect-ratio control; solid anamorphic conversion; plays MP3, WMA, and JPEG files; comfortable remote.

No 3:2 pull-down video processing; no simultaneous video output.

Subpar video processing keeps this otherwise well-featured prog-scan deck out of the top tier.

OK for a novice or as a burned DVD compatibility tester.

Nice output quality. EZ View thing is handy.

Not very compatible these days and there are NO firmware updates available.

Bought this DVD player a while back from Frys, felt it was a good deal. I didn't have some of the disc read problems others had, but be careful of the settings! I made a bad selection, lost the picture, and with no way to reset the DVD player (and ...

Price, EZVIEW feature. Reads scratched discs. Plays MP3's, Dolby Digital Passthrough, progressivescan.

SET UP! Be ready to return, maybe buy locally.
