TomTom ONE 140 IQ Routes Edition

Slim design, ease of use, IQ Routes technology, advanced lane guidance, EasyPort mount, TomTom HOME software, Map Share, Help Me! safety menu, preloaded camera alerts

IQ Routes takes a little longer than usual to calculate route, no included AC adapter

TomTom has added its IQ Routes technology and advanced lane guidance to the entry-level ONE 140 GPS unit. The changes from the previous model are minimal, but with each iteration this excellent GPS series continues to improve.

TomTom One 140 S portable navigation device review: TomTom One 140 S portable navigation device

The TomTom One 140 S builds on TomTom's successful One series of entry-level portable navigation devices (PNDs), with the addition of features that were once the hallmarks of TomTom's top-of-the-line models.

The TomTom One 140 S features advanced features such as lane guidance, downloadable fuel prices, and user-updated maps from TomTom Map Share. Text-to-speech enhances the device's safety.

The smallish screen size tends to crowd the buttons on the address entry screen, which makes inputting text difficult. Routing from a moving vehicle is considerably slower than from a stationary one.

The TomTom One 140 S benefits greatly from feature trickle-down, bringing high-end features to an entry-level model without much price bloat.

TomTom One 140-S

With the introduction of its $199.95 (list) One 140-S, TomTom has officially upped the ante in the entry-level GPS market. It has features such as lane assist, multisegment trip planning, and advanced routing technology that are missing from our...

Includes maps and seven million POIs for the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Text-to-speech conversion. Features advanced capabilities (IQ Routes, lane assist, multisegment routing) that are uncommon on entry-level devices

Awkward mounting bracket. No SD card slot for map expansion. No Bluetooth phone interface. Live traffic updates aren't included ; Watch the TomTom One 140-S in action

TomTom's One 140-S has more features than you'd typically expect from a $200 GPS device from a top manufacturer.

TomTom One 140

Same, same but slightly better than before. Quicker responses and lane guidance justify slight premium over fourth-gen One.

Folds up compactly ; Lane guidance ; Snazzier menus and icons ; Faster responses ; Loud speaker

Little different to cheaper fourth-gen One ; IQ Routes of little benefit ; Care required when adjusting viewing angle

If last year's One and XL were a revolution — in form factor, at the very least — this year's line-up is slowly and steady evolution. The question then is: is it worth the extra AU$50 over last year's One? With its faster processor and the inclusion of...

TomTom One 140 S Portable Navigation Device Review

The TomTom One 140 S is a new crown in the One series of the portable navigational devices introduced by TomTom in recent times. The company has wisely avoided the risk factor and has used the features that were just perfect in the older application...

: There are good benefits like trickling down and high end features. Prices are also the reasonable ones. But still the smaller size makes a bit difficult to use the device. It is manageable device and a similar version of the previous navigation...
