If you want to spend less than a premium price for a 17-inch LCD monitor and are willing to accept some compromises, NEC's MultiSync LCD1735NXM is a good choice.

Digital and analog signal support. Thin bezel and attractive design. Built-in speakers.

Limited viewing angle. Front-panel buttons and on-screen menu system are a bit awkward to use. Some image-quality flaws.

NEC MultiSync LCD 1735NXM

 

The NEC-Mitsubishi MultiSync LCD1735NXM is a 17-inch LCD monitor that accepts both digital and analog signals, has some attractive design features (plus built-in speakers), and comes at a surprisingly competitive price ($435 street).

Digital and analog signal support. Thin bezel and attractive design. Built-in speakers

Limited viewing angle. Front-panel buttons and on-screen menu system are a bit awkward to use. Some image-quality flaws

This is a good value for a basic 17-inch monitor. The flaws are minor, and it comes with some attractive extra features.

This is the first LCD monitor aside from my laptop and I have to say the advantages of this monitor outweigh it's fault's which is saying a lot seeing as their are quite a few. I bought this LCD screen because I couldn't stand moving around my giant...

I thought NEC is good!

 

Cons: Too bright even when brightness is set to zero. I think it's the same for all NEC LCD, I have 1760 and this also is very bright in the white background, it hurts your eyes after a while reading word documents. But Good for using it under the Sun ...

Good image quality. Good contrast ratio. Nice tilt angle up to 90 to -5

Sharpness settings can't be saved, turning off monitor loses it
