Olevia Standard

Great Tv ; I've owned this Tv for over 4 years and did not need any service to it at all which is a huge plus for me. I've had to wait for the cable company 10 times more than having my television serviced ; Plenty of connections in the back ; I've...

Bright blue light illuminates when it is off. Sucks for the people who have to crash on the couch and have that shine in their face

Very Good Picture

A really nice TV and for the price -WOW. The menu could stand an overhaul but leave the picture alone. We will soon pick out a decent home theater system for our non tech brother and he will be ready to go. We just put him on broadband and he is...

Bad Move - did not buy this from Newegg. A very nice picture with a lot of choices for input and output. The 1080i pictures (a lot of channels) from basic cable with no box were a big surprise. The menu GUI is a joke (some idiot trying to win an award...

When no sound came out 2 experienced electronic people were stumped. There was NO instructions - picture- or any way that we could figure out that the speakers had to be hooked up to the TV with external wires even with the speaker connections in plain...

Overall impressions

With the upcoming nationwide switch to digital format I recognize that there are still a lot of things that need to be standardized. That being said I think there will still be a lot updates on both sides of the industry.

In all the Olevia 242T is an excellent value for the money considering the competition. I have done a lot of HDTV research both documented and visually and for the $800 to my doorstep it blows away the competition. As far as quality and durability,...

Navigating the menu can be tedious. One example is entering channel names or functions for video settings. Hopefully with the ability for firmware updates there is room for improvement. My most significant 'con' would be using favorite channels. To be...

First flat screen

Customer service was amazing. Very helpful and although they were ready to put in a technical issue and advised that a technician will either assist me or my tv will be replaced I found the problem to be with the output setting of my cable box.

I really love my new tv. It went from the box to the stand and it was really easy to connect my cable box, DVD player, and Wii station to the tv. Everything connected looks great. It took some time to get the picture perfect but I love all of the...

I haven't found any but you definitely have to know what you're doing to take full advantage of the tv

Incredible Value for the money

I purchased this tv after seeing a 32" 720p version that one of my customers was using as a computer monitor. For the money I am certainly amazed. it may not have the highest contrast ratio or black levels compared with higher end LCD tv's. But for...

Great color right out of the box, 1920x1080 from the VGA port ; Great PIP modes ( can run VGA at full resolution and HDMI in the subscreen at the same time ). Decent black levels and contrast Light weight for a 42". Very easy to setup. Makes an amazing...

Menu interface could be better. would have preferred a traditional menu interface. would have preferred more color temperature settings (though 6500k looks fines) ; All my friends now threaten to break into my apartment and steal it

positives and negatives

I would recommend the TV, great price for the features. And don't believe what the salesman says... you CAN tell a difference between 720p and 1080p on a 42in tv.

Very clear picture (ofcourse), easy to use, good menu features such as a button to quick change the brightness of the tv for dark or bright rooms (useful for night and day time). Also great speakers, especially for LCD. I use the tv speakers as the...

In/near the upper right corner of the tv there is a bright spot which I assume is from a backlight shining through. Only noticable when the screen is completely black. Does not affect the picture at all when that section of the TV has color in the...

Beautiful

I'm a cable guy, I have installed a great many DLP, LCD, and Plasma TVs. I could not be happier with the results I have received from my Olevia. I have seen more expensive TVs not put up quite as good a picture as this Olevia. You can't go wrong with...

This tv prjex a superb picture even in analog tv. I have my Time Warner Cable DVR hooked up via COMPONENT video cables and my RCA DVD player (1080i upconversion, it cnvrts all DVD's to an HD pic thru HDMI cable) hooked up to this TV. You know it is...

I CAN NOT FIND ANY CONS WITH THIS TV ; With the Audio output option, I can set my remote control up to control the Amp for volume, and other features normal without swaping remotes ; I programed the Olevia remote to control my cable box, my DVD...

242T FHD

I've got both my laptop (through a DVI to HDMI cable) and my XBOX 360 (through the VGA, since this will upconvert DVDs) hooked up and they look great.

Lots of connections including great support through VGA (other brands I've seen have been lacking in this). An even brightness and a wide viewing angle make this TV a pleasure to watch. Has many PIP settings including my favorite, a split screen mode...

The connections are a little hard to reach and can sometimes be confusing on what video input matches which audio input. The TV's menu can be hard to navigate. Slow startup time, and a lot of inputs to switch through

Very decent television

AIT delivery was very good.. came a day early, and when there was a hole in the box, even though I didn't pay for it, he brought it into my house and helped me unpack it to be sure the TV itself wasn't damaged.

Good viewing angles, crisp colors, plenty of inputs, no problems out of the box. Love the light-up remote control. I use it with an old computer to watch videos on, plus DVDs, PS2, Wii.. does it all excellent

Backlighting seems slightly uneven.. it has some glow on the left hand side of the screen that shows up in dark scenes in movies and such.. Also, registering the TV was a pain as the website refused to accept the SN even when I tried possible...

So far so good

Bought mine at a retail store on Black Friday, been using it everyday since with no issues at all! Sure if you compare it in the store someof the other sets have better pics, but once home alone it is fine! You not buying a high buc set here! The turn...

Low price, good features, good picture when not doing a direct comparison in the store. Lip sync, lots of vertical and horizontal adjustments, PIP, splitscreen, etc

Low support, bright blue LED in off position, but you can turn it off in the setup. Remote needs more features. you can get programming for a harmony now, so if this is important consider that option
