Panasonic Viera TH-P50VT30A

The Panasonic VT30 is a solid, though slightly disappointing, television that performs at the best of class in some areas, but at the absolute worst in others.

Excellent HD processing. Best lit-room performance. Viera app store easy to use. Excellent black levels.

Poor component video performance. Free-to-air TV suffers image breakup. Can't turn pixel orbiter off.

Panasonic Viera VT30

The Panasonic VT30 is the company's flagship plasma that features Smart TV, Skype calls, better power consumption and improved contrast.

We have high hopes for the VT30, for while the 50-inch VT20 was the best plasma of 2010, it wasn't the best television overall. LCD and its illegitimate LED progeny have made some key advances in the last couple of years, and Panasonic has a lot of...

Panasonic Viera TH-P50VT30A

The Plasma TV battleground is a hard won pitch with 3D becoming a focus for the main players. With both Samsung and LG having launched a slew of products this year, how will this 50 incher from Panasonic fare?

Mesmerisingly good performance standards; Practically no crosstalk with 3D; Huge feature count

It’s not cheap for a 50in TV; Optimised pictures not spectacularly bright; Some judder with 50Hz PAL

"Update Review on TH-P50VT30A"

I decided to update my review of the Panasonic TH-P50VT30, after speaking with Panasonic's Marketing manager for the VIERA group last week. As I reported earlier their was no sign of when the high end VT30A 55" and 65" would be shipping. This has...

Excellent picture clarity and contrast. Smooth motion and some of the best blacks for night time movie viewing

Expensive compared with the top models from other manufacturers. Irregular colour patches highlighted on greyscale. Poor stand design. No illuminated remote. Limited internet content

"Best tv on the market by far"

I am not sure how cnet has come to the conclusion it has with this tv.

Brilliant blacks, motion, detail, picture rocks

Will make you wish you didn't by the over hyped lcd for spare room

"waiting"

I'm not a patient person. Waiting to be able see it in the "flesh". Sounds good on paper but need to see it in real life. I'm ready to upgrade.

Should be one of the very best tv's available

"waiting to get our hands on a 1st calibration :)"

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Panasonic product launch that was held at the Barracks cinema's in Brisbane last month. There was one 50" VT30 on display & this is what I have to say about it..

pioneer/juro tech, near perfect grayscale picture out-of-box, thx certified 2d/3d, mariana-deep black capability, frameless design & made in japan :)

star wars blu-ray box set is still months away

"Plasma IS the Gold Standard."

Deep Blacks, Shadow Details, and Local Zone Dimming: Traditionally, plasma TVs have offered superior blacks and deep grays areas where LCD TVs claim to have caught up thanks to LED backlighting systems with local zone dimming. And sure enough, those...
