For a 1st timer, you can't go wrong

 

With the higher than average contrast ratio, plethora of conncection options. This set is a great option for a first timer into the HD world.

For my first foray into the HD world, I decided to spend a bit extra and get a set with a few bells and whistles. I think it was worth it. Color and contrast are great. The QAM tuner picked up a half dozen channels in Comcast that are HD in the clear...

Factory defaults are set to "Vivid" picture settings and that is wat too bright and gaudy for my tastes. "Standard" is better. Just tweak the bightness up a tiny bit. Also, the backlight can be turned down a few notches, especially on the component...

So far, so bueno

 

Newegg is the best place in the world.

Great hd picture, and decent analog picture

As a few others mentioned, power on time is a little slow - probably 5 to 8 seconds, but I can live with that

NICE...

 

If i had to choose.... i would go Samsung all the way... for my lcd television needs.

This TV is awesome.... I am using the RGB port to run it as a pc monitor... Also using the components on a Wii it looks perfect, and normal cable television looks about like i have seen it on any other tv... but it is definitely watchable

Sometimes it can be a little grainy, but overall this is a good unit
