Zalman S Series SSD0032S1 2.5" 32GB USB 2.0 & SATAII MLC Internal / External Solid State Drive (SSD)

Not the biggest or the fastest drive around, but it was the cheapest I've seen a 30+ GB SSD drive go for, so I'm very happy with it as a HTPC boot drive.

Got it cheap. $45 after MIR in December. Rebate processed correctly, no hassles with that ; Benched at 205MB/s in HDTune. I've heard (but not confirmed) that it is a JMicron controller. It's an older controller, but the performance was excellent ; It...

Only legitimate complaint is a lack of included accessories. When I bought my Intel SSD, I got a SATA cable, a molex to SATA adapter, and a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter to use it in a normal hard drive bay, with screws. This only included the drive and the USB...

First horrible experience with Newegg

I've been a newegg customer for well over 8 years, building a new system almost every year sometimes 2... RMA'ed the drive back to newegg to get a response saying i have to RMA the drive back to Zalman... what a great waste of time, i could care less...

As fast as advertised when working

I would give this product a 0 egg rating if i could as well as newegg's service. Product failed after 2 weeks of use. Caused my system to hang at verifying DMI pool. Once i got it back online with another HDD, the drive would fail to format... tried...

Really Great for Gaming

Was supposed to be 3 day shipping, but NewEgg sent it ground, was not very happy about that. But no eggs off, since that was not a problem with the drive itself. First ran it in an external esata dock, just moved it internal today. Either way, runs...

At near 260MB/S, very fast reads. I wanted a drive to run games from, not worried about the write speed at all, but its not slow at writing either. While I have not tested the read speed, it loads my games lightning fast. When I log into an MMO, almost...

None really. Would like it to be bigger, but for the price got it for less than $50 after a one day rebate) , this was a steal

Cheap, fast, what else do you want?

Zalman's been making these for only a month or two now, but they seem to have hit it right with this drive. this isnt high performance or anything, but it is reliable, slim, and oh so fast!

I bought this as a boot drive for a win7 build i was making. it was easy to set up and install onto. boot time is around 20 or less, average for an ssd, but overall fast

There is a blue light that blinks repeatedly in the center of the drive. It's not a con really, just annoying if you dont have blue lights in your case. Also, 32gb is on the low edge for a boot drive, so be prepared for it to fill all the way up.thats all

Fast, great for OS

Only 32GB. I'll be upgrading to a larger SSD when I get more money. As theholmboy suggested, I disabled System Restore and I got 1GB back (nice). I also disabled indexing but I my WEI stayed at 5.9 (oh well). Zalman has entered the SSD world with a...

Sped up the time it takes Windows 7 x64 to load from ~30 sec to ~5 sec. Significant upgrade from a Hitachi 7200 rpm drive. Cheapest 32GB SSD available right now. Bumped WEI to 5.9

damaged sector

I own over 20 HDD's and I've never had a damaged sector ever. This is my third SSD purchase and will be the last for zalman SSD's. Sending back.

kinda snappy. advertises 260mb/sec read. I hit 210mb/sec for a second then averaged about 148mb/sec ; Very light drive with usb

One damaged sector on disk out the box. Quality control must not be very good at all at Zalman ; It works but freezes on a webpage about every 5 min

Takes a bit of effort for Mac

Installed out of the box internally into my mac and attempted to boot from an mac osx install disk--no joy. Came up with a 'you must restart your computer' screen in four languages. Attempted to boot from a usb-connected boot drive--no joy, same...

Installed in a 2010 13" aluminium [unibody] macbook pro and did eventually get it to work (see below). Lightning fast! The drive has a built-in usb connector in addition to the sata 2 interface--wish every drive had this ; USB cable was included ; Very...

Took quite a bit of troubleshooting to make it work. 32gb is very small, just about the bare minimum for a modern computer. Seriously consider a 64gb ; Installation 'leaflet' was pretty minimal

Not as fast as stated specs, but I'll take a WEI of 6.9

Even with read speeds much lower than advertised, this drive is perfect for the system disk in a Win7 HTPC, paired up with two 320GB data drives in RAID 0. This HTPC is powered up and down each day, so quick booting was a key consideration and it has...

Good price and will be even better with rebate, nice flexibility with USB option, write speeds were are specified, brought up my Win7 WEI score from 5.9 to 6.9 after a few tweaks

The specs here say sequential read speeds are up to 260MB/s, but I averaged no better than 128MB/s with CrystalDiskMark on two different SATA II boards. Still, considering this is the least expensive SSD I have purchased (even pre-rebate) I can live...

Nice

It works and is fast, that's all you can ask for from a SSD. Good job Zalman
