If you want to watch live, this is a very good camera. You can get third-party software (researching this now) that, for an extra cost, may make this camera usable for recorded / exported material as well.
Camera itself is very good. 30fps at 640x480. Decent ActiveX interface for viewing camera over the web. Only camera in this price range that supports both video AND audio. Supports external mic and speakers. Overall, very nice camera
Software absolutely sucks. The software is not necessary to use -- but it supports recording the video and audio from the camera to your hard drive. This is a cut-down version of the pro software and it shows. CPU usage 100% when viewing. Export...

I bought this camera to use as baby monitor. It works okay in during the day with the blinds shut we can kinda see the baby. At night it is only good for the sound.

recording feature, setup, using 250 gig hard drive and has been recording for 21 days and just now using 1/2 of the drive. Playback is easy and can be convered to an avi or mpeg file
